Manchester United’s pursuit of Lucas Moura is now over according to Sao Paulo director Adalberto Baptista.

The Red Devils have been keen to sign the 19-year old attacking midfielder but a recent offer of £27million was rejected by the Brazilian club who have now decided to stop negotiations.

“There are no negotiations going on. Everybody knows that we got an offer for him, and rejected it. It’s also known that Lucas doesn’t want to leave. The only person keeping the expectations alive is his agent,” Baptista told ESPN Brasil.

“The decision is final. There will always be great team going after great players. This mismatch between the European and Brazilian transfer window makes it hard for national clubs, and we have to deal with that.”

“I resigned and wanted to retire completely but the desire to win a place in the World Cup finals with a national side remained.

“It made me change my mind and accept the RFU proposal. It is my main goal and I want to make it happen.”

De Jong intent on winning back-to-back titles with Man City | Premiership News | Tribal Football

Nigel de Jong is looking for a second consecutive Premier League title with Manchester City.

Nigel de Jong is looking for a second consecutive Premier League title with Manchester City.

The midfielder was a part of the City squad which clinched the silverware on the final day of last season and now he is determined to add to that, especially after he was involved in Holland’s disastrous performance at Euro2012 in June.

“The Euros were disappointing for me because we went out in the group stage, but personally I had a good tournament, however the team effort was not the best,” he told the club’s official website.

And de Jong, who was often used off the bench by Roberto Mancini last term, is set to put aside his personal differences and do what he is asked to achieve further success.

“The team is the main thing now,” he added.

“Obviously everybody wants to play for themselves individually, but it’s not always going to happen, because we have a big squad. But for the team we just have to go now and try and win as many trophies as we can.

“A lot of teams and a lot of people are going to look up to us after winning the Premiership and we are the team to beat at the moment. But for us as a group, we always keep it calm and we just have to focus on what we do best and that is to play football on the pitch. We just have to do our best.”

OLYMPIC FOOTBALL Group A: Late Senegal strike spoils Great Britain party | Premiership News | Tribal Football

Great Britain failed to protect a first half lead as Senegal rallied after the break to take a deserved point in a 1-1 draw.

Great Britain failed to protect a first half lead as Senegal rallied after the break to take a deserved point in a 1-1 draw.

GB never really came to terms with the physical style of Senegal and whilst Bellamy gave them a lead in the 19th minute it was the African`s who looked the more dangerous after the break and levelled with nine minutes remaining through Mane.

Stuart Pearce though will look back to a second half incident when Bellamy was clearly brought down by Cisse inside the penalty area with the game poised at 1-0, but the officials gave nothing.

It was GB`s two over aged Welsh players, Giggs and Bellamy, who combined to open the scoring.

The Manchester United player flighted over a free kick which broke for his Liverpool counterpart to drive home.

The quality of play was poor at times but Senegal looked threatening on the break as GB were forced back onto the defensive.

A disjointed second period saw Senegal make all the running but poor finishing and a fine save from Butland kept GB in front.

But straight from a GB corner the visitor`s broke quickly and the perfect through ball allowed Konate to chip the ball over the advancing Butland.

Team GB almost grabbed a late winner as Sordell crashed a late shot against the crossbar but equally Senegal could have clinched the three points in added time.

Referee: Ravshan Irmatov (Uzb)

Venue: Old Trafford

Attendance: 55,000

GB scorers: Bellamy 19
Senegal scorers: Konate 81
